I didn't eat it.

"The dogs loved it."

Christine P. (5/5)

So easy and picky eaters rejoice!

"I have 3 dogs and while they all love the various HK foods, I have one that is a super slow eater and I normally need to take her bowl in my office after the other two have eaten and sit with her to get her to finish. Needed to find a quick option for those morning that I don't have time to sit with her. This on top of her clusters did the job and we both are happy girls. Thanks HK for giving my picky girl another healthy option."

Suzanne B. (5/5)

Love it!

"So great to find a food with grains that also has terrific ingredients which my allergy-prone girl can eat! Oddly, she can't have beef, venison, eggs, lamb or corn, which makes it tough to find good quality commercial food. Thanks, Honest Kitchen! I use this as a topper to the Turkey and Oat dehydrated to help with the costs."

Laura W. (5/5)

My dogs LOVE this

"I have 2 older dogs who both need low fat diets and the one pot stews ate perfect. They like them so much that they cannot wait for me to put their bowls and start barking as soon as I take them out of them microwave. The little chihauhau I adopted a month ago was on a prescription low fat diets, and i've changed her over to the one pot stews and her skin and coat have really improved. Thank you for these wonderful foods."

Kathleen H. (5/5)

Sydney baby happy

"My dog loves product. Haven't found an HK product she doesn't like. When she hears me shake carton she starts dancing and eyes get big. Love when mommy's girl is happy."

Q&A

If I am adding two tbsp of Honest Kitchen stew twice daily (4 tblsp daily) to my senior dog’s kibble how much should I reduce her kibble by? She is a large breed 12 year old who is a bit overweight but I still like to add some wet food to her kibble.
Hi Elena, To determine how much of each recipe to do, it seems to be easiest to break this down into portions. I normally recommend doing this based on percentages. This way, you'll be feeding according to the guidelines and can ensure you're not overfeeding or underfeeding. First, you'll need to find how much of each recipe is recommended for your dog's weight. Then you can break each type down into percentages. For example, you could do 75% of the recommendation for dehydrated food with 25% of what's recommended for the clusters. Since each dog's metabolism is unique, you might find that your dog needs less or more than what's recommended. Adjusting accordingly is totally okay since the feeding guides won't work perfectly for every dog. Hope this helps!
How much would you recommend as a kibble topper for a large breed 12 year old dog? I have been using 1 or 2 tblsp twice a day so just want to make sure I’m on the right track. I have to watch the weight on one of my dogs. Do I need to reduce the kibble when adding this? Thank you, Elena

Is this a good kibble topper for senior dogs- your web site doesn’t list it a senior recommended food?
Hi Elena, Our toppers are suitable for all life stages. Hope this helps!
How many servings in an order. Dog is 14 lbs
Hi Lisa, Thank you for reaching out to The Honest Kitchen. I hope you are doing well. Based on your pup's weight, you should feed two boxes of Simmered Salmon & Chicken One Pot Stew. The feeding guidelines for our wet food are available on the recipe page. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other concerns. All the best,
Can I freeze leftover stew so it lasts longer? If so, how long can I keep it in the freezer and would it be okay to defrost it in the refrigerator?
Hi there, Thanks for reaching out to us! You can freeze the left over stew in the freezer and it will keep in the freezer up to its best by date. You can defrost as needed and once defrosted the food will keep in the fridge up to 3 days. I hope this helps but don’t hesitate to reach out if you need further assistance!

Frequently Asked Questions

Each pound of dehydrated food equates to about 4 dry cups of food.

Find your dog's daily feeding amount using the feeding guidelines.

Divide that amount by the total dry cups in your chosen box (see below).

2 lb box = 8 dry cups
4 lb box = 16 dry cups
7 lb box = 28 dry cups

Example:

A 30 lb dog with an average activity level is recommended 1 dry cup per day.

If you purchase a 10 lb box (40 dry cups), it will last 40 days.

Yes! Dehydrated food is great as a complete meal, topper to your dog's favorite dry food or used with enrichment toys like lick mats.

While you can use as much or as little as you'd like, we recommend mixing half of the suggested serving of your dog's dry food with half the suggested serving of dehydrated food. Adjust as needed to avoid overfeeding.

The 3 Best Ways to Stuff a KONG

Our cowoofers love a stuffed KONG! And there are many reasons we love to serve them. They're a great way to keep your pet entertained while treating them to something healthy and delicious. Plus, they serve as a great source of mental stimulation which can help with anxiety and destructive behavior caused by boredom. There are many ways to serve Honest Kitchen in conjunction with a KONG. Here are 3 of our favorite ways: KONG + Honest Kitchen's dehydrated recipes Our dehydrated recipes in a KONG is a classic combo! Whether you're looking to slow down your dog's eating, or just looking for a couple of extra minutes of quiet time while you're on a Zoom call, this is one of our favorite ways to keep dogs busy. We like to seal the KONG with a little pet-friendly peanut butter or a treat to ensure nothing falls out. This can serve as a snack or even a meal for pups who tend to gobble down their food too fast. SHOP NOW SHOP NOW SHOP NOW KONG + Honest Kitchen's Pâté and Stews Our latest obsession is to use our new wet foods in a KONG. This has quickly become a crowd favorite due to the palatability of our Butcher Block Pâté and One Pot Stews. These wet food varieties come in Tetra Paks and are less processed and fresher than cans, which make them a great option for those looking to boost their dog's health and nutrition. Tip: If you're using the One Pot Stews, we'd recommend putting tape on the bottom of the KONG, filling with Stew and freezing for a mess-free, long-lasting treat. Just remember to remove the tape before serving! SHOP NOW SHOP NOW KONG + Honest Kitchen's Wet Toppers Another easy way to stuff a KONG is to use Honest Kitchen's wet toppers. While this won't serve as a complete and balanced meal, this option is great for a mid-day snack between meals. These toppers are a healthy and tasty addition to any dog's diet, come in a variety of flavors, and have just a few ingredients. Plus, the easy-to-use box makes pouring into a KONG a simple and easy way to treat your dog to a protein-rich snack. SHOP NOW SHOP NOW We've used KONGS over the years for many reasons, from crate training to keeping busy puppies distracted, and everything in between. You can always freeze any of the above suggestions for a longer-lasting treat that'll buy you some extra quiet time. We love keeping a couple in the freezer ready to go at any minute and we suggest you do the same!
