Black Lives Matter: We're Taking a Stand

Most days, we’re all about cute dogs & cats and a passion for good food, but today, we need to raise our hand to say, we’re with you. It’s hard to find the words to express our heartbreak for the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, Ahmaud Arbery, and all the lives that continue to be taken senselessly and violently as a result of racial prejudice and police brutality.?

We've been told over the years to, “stay in our lane and just make dog food” when we've voiced our opinions about policies in the past, but right now, we don’t feel that silence is acceptable. Our voice, with your voice, becomes part of a unified movement that impacts legislation, and more importantly, sets a standard of basic decency for what’s tolerated and becomes the societal norm.?

We know that while powerful, words alone are not enough. We encourage our team members to be the change they want to see, and that's what we're setting out to do as a brand. We've expanded each employee’s paid volunteer hours, totaling 2,000 hours for the company, so they can serve causes that support their local community and make the world a better place. Additionally, we’ve donated to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund in support of their efforts to continue fighting for justice.?

As fellow big-hearted animal lovers, we're asking you to let us know how we can be a better partner & voice. We're also doing some internal soul-searching to discover ways that we can increase empowerment and diversity across our whole organization. Racial equality isn't debatable or optional and we're hopeful that the energy and momentum behind this civil rights issue will become a true force for change.? ?
